Game Modes in Minecraft

Two basic Game Modes in minecraft were started by Mojang Studios – Creative and Survival. Three more game modes were added by minecraft to make things more interesting- Adventure, Spectator and Hardcore. Let’s quickly explain the differences between these modes.

Creative Game Mode in Minecraft

Creative mode gives you unlimited resources, allows you to destroy blocks instantly when mining, and allows you to fly within the game.

When you play during this mode, you’ll not have a health bar, a hunger bar or an experience bar. Although you do not have an experience bar, you’ll still gain experience from killing mobs and mining certain items. Mobs can be killed by you but they can never attack you or fight back. Also, you’ll not take damage or die within the game.

A Minecraft world can be started by you in Creative mode. You can also switch your world to Creative mode from another game mode whenever you wish.

Survival Game Mode in Minecraft

Survival mode allows you to look for resources, devour mined items, and craft items. However, you’ll not be ready to fly.

When you play during this mode, you’ll have a health bar, a hunger bar and an experience bar. The feature of killing mobs will be enabled and the hostile mobs can even attack you. You will take damage and may die within the game.

A Minecraft world can be started by you in Survival mode. You can also switch your world to Survival mode from another game mode whenever you wish.

Adventure Game Mode in Minecraft

Limited features are available in Adventure mode to preserve adventure maps from being changed. You will not be able to fly in this mode. Blocks can not be destroyed by hand rather an item can be used with the CanDestroy tag to destroy a block. Only if the block has the CanPlaceOn tag. Then it can be placed.

When you play during this mode, you’ll have a health bar, a hunger bar and an experience bar. You will be ready to kill mobs and hostile mobs will attack you. You will take damage and may die within the game.

Although you’ll not start a Minecraft world in Adventure mode (you will need to choose Creative or Survival once you create the world), you’ll switch to Adventure mode from another game mode using the /gamemode command.

Spectator Game Mode in Minecraft

Spectator mode is merely available in Minecraft Java Edition. It was first introduced in Minecraft 1.8 to permit players to fly around and observe the Minecraft world. Players during this mode can’t interact with anything within the game, but can fly through solid objects.

When you play during this mode, you’ll not have a health bar, a hunger bar or an experience bar. You will not be ready to kill mobs, take damage or die within the game.
Although you’ll not start a Minecraft world in Spectator mode (you will need to choose Creative or Survival once you create the world), you’ll switch to Spectator mode using the /gamemode command.

Spectator may be a great mode to use if you’ve got mined underground and have gotten lost or run out of resources. Just switch to Spectator mode and fly up! You can easily find blue skies and therefore the ground. After that switch back to Creative or Survival mode again.

Hardcore Game Mode in Minecraft

Hardcore mode is merely available in Minecraft Java Edition. This mode locks you at the toughest difficulty level and you simply have one life!

When you play during this mode, you’ll have a health bar, a hunger bar and an experience bar. You will be ready to kill mobs and hostile mobs will attack you. You will take damage and may die within the game.

You can only choose Hardcore once you first create the Minecraft world and there’s no thanks to switch to Hardcore after your world has been created in another game mode.
